Study

A Berlint, a Sturm körét és az absztrakt kísérleteket 1926-ban otthagyó Bernáth Aurél az 1920-as évek második felében a magyar látványfestészet legkiválóbb tehetségévé, majd a Gresham-kör kulcsfigurájává vált. Bernáth felesége, Pártos Alice a szlovákiai Pöstyén híres szanatóriumában kapott állást 1926-ban, ahol a festő is ideális művészi környezetre talált, fürdővel, szállókkal, folyóparttal és kastéllyal. „Mintha egy oázisra érkeztem volna – írta Utak Pannóniából című visszaemlékezésében Pöstényről –, szaharai gyaloglás után.” Szemlélődésre hajlamos, merengő lelkialkata a táji környezetben megélt, érzelmileg sűrített pillanatokat kereste a pöstyéni hétköznapokban.
