Irodalom

Molnos Péter: Aba-Novák. Népszabadság, Budapest, 2006.

Molnos Péter: Aba-Novák, a „barbár zseni”. Modem–Népszabadság, Debrecen–Budapest, 2008.

„Akármihez nyúlok, abból novella kerekedik” – mondta ars poeticának is beillő vallomásában Aba-Novák Vilmos. „Nincs az a mozihíradó, amely fürgébben és változatosabban nyüzsögtetné a látnivalók eleven sokadalmát, mint Aba-Novák piktúrája” – írta a festő elbeszélőmódjáról találó módon értő szemű kritikusa, Kállai Ernő. A most vizsgált, eredeti keretében, intakt állapotban megőrzött, jellegzetes Aba-Novák-festmény is olyan, mint egy – a magyaros alföldi világra hangolt – westernfilm jelenete. A széles préri felett viharzó fellegek alatt ponyvából és deszkákból épített árnyékvető ad enyhet a nyári forróságban. Körben színes blúzokban fehér fejkendős asszonyok, közöttük fekete kalapos férfiak. Az egyik kanász lóháton érkezik, a másik szamáron. Borospalackok és könnyed ecsetvonással felvitt üvegpoharak előtt ülnek a vásárba érkezők a hosszú asztal körül. Mintha egy westernt forgatnának az Alföldön, ahol a marcona cowboyok helyett szolnoki vásározók gyűltek össze. Ördögszekerek helyett kanásznadrágok szárát fújja a szél, Stetson kalapok helyett pedig pörgekalapok védenek a nyári delelőtől. A harmincas évekbeli magyar festészet fiatal sztárja, a robusztus fellépésű Aba-Novák maga is ellátogatott a cowboyok földjére, épp a most vizsgált festmény születésének az évében, 1935-ben. A New York City College archívumában fennmaradt ekkor forgatott, fekete-fehér archív filmtöredék segítségével betekintést nyerhetünk Aba-Novák virtuóz festészeti eljárásába.
