Irodalom

A göndör afrofrizurás nő csábítóan bújik hozzá a korallvörös nyakláncával „takaródzó”, kezét szégyenlősen maga elé kapó európai szépséghez. A háttérben könnyed, rajzos vonalakkal felvázolt borospoharak rendeződnek csendéletbe a mulató egyik asztalán. A jelenet akkor született, amikor az élveteg erotikára kinyíló első világháború utáni korszak nyugati hőseit – kétezer évvel Kleopátra után – ismét elbűvölte az afrikai szépségideál. Az amerikai szórakoztatóipar hatására az 1920-as években az afroamerikai művészek meghódították a színpadokat, a dzsesszzenészektől a lenge szoknyás táncosokig. Az utóbbi műfaj vitathatatlan királynője Josephine Baker volt, a Saint Louis-i fekete leány, aki 1925-ben, az art deco születésének éveben érkezett Párizsba. A hajlékony testű, sötét bőrű amerikai táncoslány elbűvölte a sokat látott éjszakai mulatók közönségét egzotikus szépségével, banánszoknyájával, közvetlen játékosságával és modern revüműsorával. A „Bronz Vénusz” Revue négre című előadásának európai turnéja után mindenhol megjelentek a fekete táncosnők – Kádár Béla art deco képein is.

A most vizsgált kép Kádár Béla értett, legsikeresebb korszakából való. A művész a hosszúra nyúlt pályakezdés után az 1920-as évek elején talált rá saját jellegzetes formanyelvére, először az 1921-es bécsi utazás (és kiállítás Max Hevesi galériájában), majd a berlini állandó jelenlét (kiállítások a Der Sturmnál) inspirációs hatásának köszönhetően. A modern német festészet első számú fellegvára, a legendás Herwarth Walden által vezetett Der Sturm galéria rendszeresen bemutatta műveit. Amikor Kádár barátjával, Scheiber Hugóval együtt először járt a berlini galériában, Walden épp Párizsban tartózkodott. De amint meglátta az ajánlásként ott hagyott képeket, sürgősen megüzente nekik, hogy szívesen látja munkáikat a Sturmban. Amikor villámlátogatást tett Budapesten 1923-ban, felkereste őket személyesen. Walden hamarosan be is mutatta Kádár képeit, elindítva festészetét a mind a mai napig tartó nemzetközi siker útján. A modern revüelőadások hasonló jeleneteiért érhető módon lelkesedett az új esztétikára szomjazó közönség.
