Dercsényi Dezső: Móricz Margit festőművész. Művészet, 1972/8., 43–44.

Az ostorcsapásként hullámzó faágak költői arabeszkje a kelet-ázsiai kalligráfiák esztétikáját idézi, pedig a helyszín Észak-Afrika. Az algériai szabadtéri piacon – a fák közé kifeszített árnyékoló ponyvák védelmében – nyüzsgő jelenet bontakozik ki. A Vaszarynál tanuló művész, Móricz Margit mesterét idéző ultramarinkék kontúrokkal jellemezte a burnuszos figurákat. A fezek, turbánok, köpenyes alakok és a gömbölyödő, lédús trópusi gyümölcsök egyszere kínálnak egzotikus életképi témát és teremtenek lehetőséget a festői remeklésre. Móricz ecsetje nyomán a zsibongó piaci jelenet az íves záródású, gömbölyded formák egy-két színnel jellemzett félabsztrakt mintázatává alakul át. Ezt a színesen vibráló képi mezőt zárják le a levegőben kifeszített sárgás-okkeres árnyékvitorlák hosszanti „kubofuturista” cikkelyei. A kompozíció tetejét a vászon nyers alapozását is láttatni engedő, laza ecsetfoltokkal feldobott lombok koronázzák. A japánosan hullámzó fekete-kék faágak rajzolatában tetten érhető ismét Vaszary hatása: a Park-sorozat jellegzetesen kígyózó kék faágának gesztusa.

„Móricz Margit – kezdte méltató írását az Ujság kritikusa 1942-ben – azok közé a szerencsések közé tartozik, akik Rómában meg Algírban gyűjthettek ihletet festői működésükhöz.” Móricz a két világháború közötti, az egyre divatosabb női festészet egyik közelmúltban fedezett tehetsége. Vaszary János és Benkhard Ágoston tanítványaként járt a modernizált szellemiségű Képzőművészeti Főiskolára az 1920-as években. 1926-ban elnyerte a Szinyei Társaság díját az ifjúsági kiállításon. Ezután külföldi tanulóévek következtek: három év Párizsban és újabb három Algériában. Móricz azon kevés magyar művész közé tartozik, aki a festői Észak-Afrikában szívta magába a szaharai napsütés vibráló színeit. 1936-ban a Műterem galéria kiállításán adott számot franciaországi és algériai tapasztalatairól. A hazai debütálása sikeres volt, 1938–1939-ben elnyerte a római ösztöndíjat. 1942-ben a Műbarátban állított ki, majd – hosszabb kihagyás után – 1966-ban a MOM-ban, 1978-ban pedig a Fényes Adolf Teremben. Leginkább a kései Vaszary levegős, fehér fénnyel telített, dallamos, kék kontúrokkal keretezett, art decós rajzosságú festészetével rokoníthatók képei.
