„Bornemisza a legujabb francia festészet példáin nevelődött, de mentes mindennemű kubista és expresszionista törekvéstől. Legközelebb áll a
Matisseből kiinduló törekvésekhez. Friss, nagyobbrészt ujszerűen harmonizált színekkel festi sokszor merész földfogású tájképeit, melyek igen sok
közvetlen és üde természetmegérzést árulnak el.”

„Valami kis szigetre szeretnék most menni. Oly régen vágyom valahova,ahol megtalálom az én bolond zöldemet. Van egy zöldem. Én bolond zöldnek
nevezem. Tavasszal tanyán látni néha ilyen bolondzöld fákat, bokrokat, de azt hiszem a tenger közepén, valami kis szigeten még szebb a zöld... nem is
tudom... akkor úgy festenék örömömben, ha megtalálnám a zöldemet, ahogy a kanári fütyül örömében.”

/Bornemisza Géza egy a Magyarország napilapnak adott interjújában 1937. június 7-én/

„Problémája a zöld szín, amelynek mélységét, vidámságot jelentő misztikus tulajdonságát tudatosan alkalmazza képein. Biztos fogással jelzi, néha
valóban csak egy színfolttal a természetnek zöld színben jelentkező életét s ezzel bravuros dekorációját adja képalkotásainak. Egyszerű előadása
közvetlen hatást biztosít, s ábrázoló ereje érezteti a távlatot és az élet minden dimenzióját.”

„Bornemissza Géza a látó művész: a par excellence festő. A szín szerelmese ő, aki a természetben nem belsőleg megoldandó, hanem külső, tisztán
festői problémákat lát. Párizs hatása erősen megérződik Bornemeisszán, aki épen ezért két élményen át festi tájait. Az egyik az, amit lát. A másik,
amelynek nyomát a kultura és a hagyományok hagyták hátra festőlelkének érzékeny lemezén. Bornemissza nem is titkolózik: színei, ezen a világító
zamatos, vitalitástól harsogó színek büszkén vallják: igen, rokonságot tartanak a nagy impresszionistákkal neoimpresszionistákkal, itt-ott egy színfolt
Cézanne-nal, egy másik, tán a „Vihar előtt” néhány vibrálása Van Gogh-al, sőt a „Luxemburg-kert” zöldje és sima figurális látása, Gauguin-nel, de
mindez csak villanásnyi benyomás ahhoz a sok és egyéni értékhez képest, amely Bornemisza piktúráját jellemzi. És ezek az értékek tehetségének már
kialakult, leszűrődött eredményeit dokumentálják és azt, hogy ez a tehetséges festő minden új lendülete mellett is a művészet jogfolytonosságának
elvét vallja.”
