Borsos, József 1821 - 1883

Share Borsos, József 's profie

Festő. 1837-1840-ig Schoefft József tanítványa volt, de nagyobb hatással volt rá Barabás Miklós, akinek műtermében gyakran megfordult. 1840-ben Bécsbe ment, és a Képzőművészeti Akadémián Leopold Kupelwieser osztályába járt, majd 1842-től Ferdinand Georg Waldmüller magániskolájában képezte magát. 1841-ben volt első kiállítása a Pesti Műegyletben. Bár festett egyházi témájú képeket, legnagyobb sikereit portréival érte el. Számos kortársáról, a bécsi arisztokrácia tagjairól készített képet. Csendéletei és zsánerképei a biedermeier és a romantikai jellegzetességeit mutatják. 1861-ben végleg Pestre költözött, és felhagyott a festéssel. Korának divatja szerint fényképészműhelyt nyitott, fényképeit is a biedermeier divat szerint készítette. Élete vége felé a fotózással is felhagyott, és egy vendéglő tulajdonosaként halt meg. Művei a Nemzeti Galériában és magángyűjteményekben találhatóak.
